Description
Duration & Format
The Refresher Standard Mental Health First Aid can be delivered of a 4-hour face-to-face or online session.
Suitability
This course targets MHFAiders that wish to renew the Standard MHFA certificate and extend the certificate by an additional 3 years.
MHFAiders who have already completed the Refresher MHFA are to apply for the Standard MHFA course.
Entry Requirments
All learners attending this course must be eighteen years or older and must have basic proficiency in either English or Maltese.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults.
- Use an evidence based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation
- Assess for a range of crisis situations and provide initial support
- Understand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, risk factors and treatment and supports available
- Apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider
Structure of Programme
This course covers the topics presented in the Standard Mental Health First Aid course. Participants will be reminded of how to apply mental health first aid to adults in various situations.
