Licensed Provider of Mental Health First Aid® Training in Italy

Mental Health First Aid International has licensed Richmond Foundation to deliver Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA®) programmes throughout Italy. As the official MHFA licensed provider for Italy, Richmond Foundation is responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting internationally recognised Mental Health First Aid training across workplaces, educational institutions, communities, and organisations nationwide. Mental Health First Aid® is an evidence-based international training programme that equips people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand, and respond to signs of mental health problems or crises.

The programme is designed to provide initial support and guide individuals towards appropriate professional help and other supports. Originally developed in Australia, MHFA has become a global movement delivered across more than 50 countries and has trained millions of people worldwide through a network of licensed partners and accredited instructors.

Through this licence, Richmond Foundation will work to expand access to high-quality mental health education and early intervention training across Italy, supporting organisations and communities in building greater mental health awareness, confidence, and resilience.

Our programmes are suitable for:

  • workplaces and corporate organisations
  • schools and educational institutions
  • healthcare and social care settings
  • NGOs and community organisations
  • public sector entities
  • individuals wishing to become certified Mental Health First Aiders

Training can be delivered in-person, online, or through blended formats, and courses may be adapted to meet the needs of different sectors and audiences.

Why Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid® applies the principles of physical first aid to mental health. Just as physical first aid helps a person until professional medical support is available, MHFA teaches people how to provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

MHFA training helps participants:

  • recognise early signs of mental health difficultie
  • approach conversations with confidence and empathy
  • reduce stigma around mental health
  • support people safely and appropriately
  • encourage access to professional and community support

The MHFA programme is supported by a strong international evidence base and has been independently evaluated through scientific and peer-reviewed research.
